How Does the SBR Process Work?

The AQUATO® KOM utilizes the SBR process (Sequencing Batch Reactor) for fully biological wastewater treatment. This proven process operates efficiently in modern single- or multi-chamber tanks and easily adapts to older, existing tanks.

All processes are precisely managed by the K-PILOT 2.4 control system in a regular four-phase cycle:

Filling Phase: Coarse solids are retained in the mechanical pre-treatment before the pre-clarified wastewater is transferred to the aeration tank.

Aeration Phase: The wastewater in the aeration tank is aerated and mixed, allowing the activated sludge and its cleansing microorganisms to form. Aeration and pause times are fully adaptable; the plant switches to an energy-saving mode during periods of low inflow.

Settling Phase: The activated sludge settles at the bottom of the tank, forming a clear water layer above it.

Decanting Phase: The treated clear water is pumped from the supernatant to the discharge point.

Only aerobically stabilized sludge is produced, significantly reducing disposal requirements. This results in considerable cost savings for you.
